Whirlwind

ARC collaborated with Clean Nova Scotia to create the opportunity for 14 people to come together and have a restorative conversation on wind energy in Nova Scotia. Circle participants included: Community members who have opposed wind harvesting in their communities or have experienced health impacts related to wind turbines near their homes, a municipal representative from Kings County, the Executive Director of the Department of Energy and the Coordinator of the Community Feed in Tariff Program (COMFIT), leaders of private businesses developing wind projects in the province, and representatives from Nova Scotia Power, the Ecology Action Centre, and “If You Build It”, a grassroots organization to provoke the hands-on development of renewable energy sources in communities.

A Way Through

This film invites those who have been hurt by another person to discover the restorative justice process. This film was created in collaboration with Community Justice Society. It invites those who have been hurt by another to discover the restorative justice process. It creates space for storytelling and shows how restorative justice can offer a different way through the pain, anger and emotional impacts so often experienced by victims of crime.

In this film you will meet Kelly, Hugh and Rick who have each been impacted by crime. You will also meet Michael who went through the restorative process to take responsibility for what he did to another person. You will also meet a number of people who work to offer restorative justice. This film shows the safe, deep and empowering effects of a restorative approach. This film was produced using restorative practices and circles with cast and crew, making it a unique film experience inside and out.

A Morning with the Protectors

ARC visited the Treaty Truckhouse, near Stewiacke Nova Scotia where Mi’kmaq water protectors are seeking to shield the Shubenacadie River from the damaging effects of the Alton Gas Project.
